The Fitzherbert Farmhouse is a grade 2 listed building in the quaint village of Swynnerton. We were tasked by our client to convert this longstanding farmhouse into 10 high quality guest rooms with en-suite facilities and a welcoming communal reception area. These new rooms are run by the award-winning village pub and have helped to extend their services to be able to welcome overnight guests to the village.
It was very important that we worked with the existing building and retained its historic features wherever possible, to preserve the original character and charm. This included areas of original panelling, tiling and fantastic exposed beams. Externally we sandblasted the front of the building to expose the original brickwork, and we replaced all the existing windows with new, as well as installing a new roof to stand the test of time.
The existing rooms have been reconfigured to make the property operationally viable, the interior design ties through with the styling from the pub, as well as our client’s other timeless sites. Classic, under stated, elegance is the order of the day in this space, with earthy greens and natural tones, layered with decorative tiling, fabrics, and feature lighting to contrast against the brickwork and reclaimed timbers, making this a perfect, cosy retreat to relax in after a muddy day exploring in the Staffordshire countryside.
