The Dundas Arms is in a picturesque location standing between the River Kennet and Avon Canal. Much of our refurbishment work was focused on highlighting the scenic surroundings by developing a comfortable seating area in the sizeable garden and opening up rooms with windows. The side terrace and beer garden needed to be more inviting and due to its vast size we also needed to fit an external bar.
Getting the right pub/restaurant balance was imperative, we had to create a space that allowed more control over client circulation. We began by building a new main entrance lobby which was well-designed to ensure it was a welcoming area with enough space for customers to initially gather.
Updated décor and bespoke furnishings including bric-a-brac allowed us to better define the different internal areas; the pub, restaurant, lounge and particularly the bedrooms. 3 of the bedrooms on the first floor had a full refurb and 5 bedrooms on the ground floor were decorated only.
Two of the best features we installed in the Dundas Arms refurbishment project is the garden restaurant panelling and bespoke fixed seating. It defines the area and adds some privacy for those dining in the restaurant whilst creating the perfect place to soak up the sun and enjoy the finer things in life.
The end result is a lovely country pub with a relaxed informal bar, good two-level restaurant a lovely waterside garden and comfortable bedrooms.
