We upgraded the construction of the main building with an improved pitched roof, better insulation, new timber cladding and new flooring.
Phase 2 - 2017 Design and Construction
A few years later in 2017 we were brought back in to complete the barn conversion which aimed to turn a derelict barn into three boutique bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The Concorde Build team successfully created 3 very different bedrooms for our client each with their own unique character.
We included free standing baths and monsoon showers, quirky decorations and vintage furniture, adding to the contemporary Elizabethan look and feel of the hotel.
As the barn is a listed building dating back to 1750 we had to conserve the extrernal skin to comply with the listed building regulations. This building could have fallen into further disrepair should we have not carefully planned and consulted with building authorities to ensure key features were preserved.
The finished result is a welcoming hotel in the heart of Saffron Walden with stunning, well-equipped rooms which form an affordable luxury getaway for families or couples.
