Set in a leafy, wooded hillside in Coychurch, The Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel is a charming Victorian mansion that has been carefully refurbished.
The two wedding and function spaces have been refreshed, improving both layout and presentation. In the Hendra Suite, the existing bar was relocated and replaced with a new bar servery featuring a marble top, decorative brass arches, illuminated bottle steps and a panelled front, with the space used exclusively for functions rather than day-to-day public use. The Upper Burton Suite was overhauled to introduce a lounge area with a reading circle around a new fireplace, alongside comfortable tub chairs and dining sets and games provided to tables. A new Lower Burton Suite was also created, incorporating a character panelled wall and bar area for guest overflow, with poseur furniture, feature planting and watercolour artwork. Across all spaces, new lighting, decorations and an artwork scheme have been introduced.
The terrace area forms part of the wider offering, available for wedding inclusion or for public use when no weddings are taking place. As part of the works, a section of the car park was removed and replaced with new resin bond gravel, along with the introduction of a pathway linking The Folly in the rear garden, the external glass structure used for wedding services, through to the front terrace area.
The new lower seating area features rattan furniture, large olive trees and parasols, with screening provided by red robin trees, while the terrace overlooks the grounds and Welsh hills. The upper terrace incorporates two glass roof and timber pergola structures, centred around a cast iron water feature, with fixed seating, patterned scatter cushions and heaters, and is completed with perimeter planting throughout, new paving and a central patterned tile beneath the pergola and water feature.
We have loved working on this beautiful site and helping to bring new life and atmosphere to such a special setting.
